Route 66 Festival Historic Tours

Edwardsville is rich in history and what better way to see it than through the guided tours presented during the 12th Annual Route 66 Festival.

Learn that Edwardsville is the 3rd oldest city in Illinois!  Come and find out who Edwardsville was named after?

Guided tour vehicles (air conditioned and handicapped accessible) are provided by The Edwardsville Historic Preservation Commission and Eden Village. History will take you to the Edwardsville Downtown Historic District, along St. Louis Street and through Historic Leclaire.

The tour route leads you past the Berleman House, Wildey Theater, Children’s Museum, the Hadley House, the Madison County Historical Museum and the Colonel Benjamin Stephenson House and so much more.

Admission and the guided tours are free and have been generously donated by local area businesses for the festival. Registration for the tours is behind the Entertainment Stage and the first tour leaves at 10:00 a.m.

We would also like to welcome to the festival this year Joe Sonderman, long-time St. Louis historian and radio personality, who brings his new book Route 66 In St. Louis. This book has over 200 vintage photos, many never before published, and great information and history on "The Mother Road" in Metro East, St. Louis and Franklin Counties. Joe will sign copies of his book while at the festival!
